I’m writing this from the international terminal of the Atlanta airport. My flight to South Africa leaves in less than 2 hours, and life feels pretty normal.
I turned 26 on Thursday. It was a great birthday, and I had a chance to celebrate on Friday with some great friends, too! I usually don’t get to sentimental about age, but this birthday has come with a couple thoughts.
Being an adult has looked different than I thought. Sure, I pictured spending Saturdays doing my taxes, buying my own groceries, and paying for my auto registration. However, I didn’t picture adulthood to look like flying to Africa the next day (again, with a sense of familiarity).
As I fly to Africa for the 5th time, I have expectations, I have excitement, and I have visions. But those look different now than those from my first trip almost half a decade ago. It’s not wrapped in anxiety or uncertainty anymore, but a sense of assurance. Assurance which has come from trip after trip filled with God’s faithfulness and goodness.
My 26th year is going to present me with opportunities to go to places I’ve been and to have it feel normal. I will continue to see deeper into the culture, seeing what the Lord is doing in a corner of the World that was once foreign, and now familiar. Through this, I get to walk others through this process. To be able to help them see what the Lord is doing in front of us and in us.
I’m thankful for a God who is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. And I’m thankful he is inviting me into what he is doing wherever I’m planted at the moment.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I’m amazed by your support. To continue stepping deeper into this myself and helping others do so as well, I need your help. To help me get back on track with the support I need to raise this year, I’m in need of $3,000. If this blog spoke to your heart, would you consider partnering with me? Thank you!
We are proud of you, son, God is using you to do amazing things! Thank you for sharing and encouraging us, too. Love you!
Thank you for sharing.
i have had a priviledge of spending some time with you while you were here…and like i have said to you earlier, i really thought i was going to meet an elderly man…my point her is this… just like i have, I think God is impressed by your maturity as such a fresh age and the fact that you are always prepared to leave all behind and trust Him enough to follow Him and let Him use you.
Once again thank you for sharing your wisdom and praying with us, of this i am convinced, greater things are coming your way because you have God on your side.
